From Lake George to Lewiston

It was a busy weekend, with major presentations at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul to the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in Lewiston, Maine and the parishioners of Our Lady of the Ascension Parish in Queensbury, New York and Sacred Heart Parish in Lake George, New York.

I'll post both of these talks tomorrow, but for now, here are some pictures of the great folks who turned up from Lewiston and Lake George!

No School on Wednesday

After careful consideration of the forecasts for the present storm and consultation with those who would have to drive in for classes tomorrow, I have decided to cancel all classes for the Seminary and Theological Institute divisions for Wednesday, March 14th. All offices will also be closed on that day.

Resident seminarians will observe a “Saturday schedule” with Mass at 8am and Liturgy of the Hours and Holy Hour on your own. Resident seminarians are also reminded that Board interviews will take place as previously scheduled.

Please pray for the safety of all our public safety workers.

Missionaries among the Migrants...

I was delighted to hear that seminarians Paul Born and Dan Zinger joined Father Americo Santos this past week for a mission trip to Saint Ann’s Mission in Homestead, Florida, forty-five minutes south of Miami. Saint Ann’s Mission was established to care for the pastoral needs of migrant workers on the local farms and plant nurseries.

The pastor of St Ann’s, Father Rafael Cos, happily received them for a week of Masses, Stations of the Cross, Adoration, Lenten reflections and meetings with the wonderful people of the mission.

Paul writes: “During the day when we were not preparing our evening talks we had the opportunity to visit some nurseries where parishioners of Saint Ann’s Mission work. It was such a privilege for us to make these visits and speak to the workers. They especially were grateful for Father Americo when he would give them a blessing. We also got to ride through the Everglades in a fan boat and see some alligators!”

Look closely...those are alligators!
