Spring Break - NY/Philly Edition

Five Saint John's Seminarians (Deacon Tom Gignac, Abishai Vase, Paul Wargovich, Joe Hubbard, and Alex Boucher), along with Fr. Joseph Briody traveled to Philadelphia for a few days in order to visit some of the area's important historic and religious sites. The group stayed at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Stops included the National Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel, the National Shrine of St. John Neumann, the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Wanamaker Organ, and (of course!) cheese steaks. While visiting the St. John Neumann Shrine, we had the opportunity to visit with Fr. Yvon Tremont, C.Ss.R., Saint John's Seminary Class of 2015. We also had a great impromptu visit with the cloistered Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (better known as the "Pink Sisters" because of their very unique pink habits). We joined the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary community each morning for Morning Prayer and visited with Fr. Patrick Brady, professor of Sacred Scripture and an old friend of Fr. Briody (Fr. Brady's family are parishioners of Fr. Briody's former parish in Ireland). On the return trip to Brighton, we stopped in New York City to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral (where we were able to pray at the tombs of Venerables Pierre Toussaint and Fulton J. Sheen), Rockefeller Plaza, and Times Square. Three days, four Holy Doors of Mercy, many grace-filled moments and encounters, and countless laughs!
