Eight new Boston Priests

This morning I was honored, once again, to recommend the men to be ordained as Priests at the Ordinations here in Boston.  The Ordination actually took place at the beautiful Immaculate Conception Parish in Lowell (Holy Cross Cathedral is undergoing renovations) before a packed Church.  After the Deacons were called:

Jason Rinaldo Giombetti
Pablo Gomis

Kevin Paul Leaver
Godfrey Musabe
Wellington Oliveira
Joel Americo Santos
William Paro Joseph Sexton
Michael Louis Zimmerman

I addressed Cardinal O’Malley: “Most Eminent Father, holy mother Church asks you to ordain these, our brothers, to the responsibility of the priesthood.”

Following the formulae of the rite, he responded with the question: “Do you know them to be worthy?”

To which I responded: “After inquiry among the Christian people and upon the recommendation of those responsible, I testify that they have been found worthy.”

Then the Cardinal declared: “Relying on the help of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, we choose these, our brothers, for the Order of the priesthood” and the entire assembled congregation responded with a resounding applause.

The rest of the Ordination, from the Litany to the Imposition of Hands to Consecratory Prayers, to Vesting, Anointing and Presentation of the prepared Chalice and Paten followed the Ordination ritual, concluding with “the fraternal kiss” by which all the priests who were present welcome the newly ordained to the Presbyteral Order.
