The Eagles at Holy Cross

On Monday, December 4, the Saint John's Seminary Eagles basketball team took on the seminarians from Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. It was the Eagles’ first official game as a team. In a hard-fought game, Saint John's came out on top with a final score of 42-37.

“We have made huge strides since our first practice. I am so proud of the guys!” said Peter Schirripa (1PT, Boston). “Everyone battled out there, and showed great composure in the closing minutes. I love our attitude, our energy, and especially our commitment to one another. We were the more united team, and it really showed when the game was on the line."

The team only expects to improve between now and the big tournament at Mundelein Seminary at the end of January. Reflecting on the fraternity and commitment of the team, assistant coach Steven Restrepo (1T, Boston) said, "The guys are starting to believe in one another. If we continue improving, SJS will make some noise in Chicago.”
